Here’s another example of some quality Chicago hardcore music. This is 2 Minute Minor. They are a sextet from the Windy City that also features members from October Bird of Death. They base their music on 80s hardcore and some Oi! music. Their debut EP “…A Goon’s Best Friend” is on ZAP’s Bandcamp. By the way, this album is free or pay-what-you-want. They also have another album coming out on May 11th.

I’m seeing more of the pay what you want. That is an interesting movement of trust on the artists part and I really like that they do that.

Oh, this has been more common for a few years especially with independent bands. Places like Bandcamp and Noisetrade have been huge with smaller bands and more recently authors.

I think it is a nice way to try and “defeat” illegal downloading. The first I remember hearing of it was when Amanda Palmer did it with her album.

Of course. A ton of smaller bands have been using that method for a long time. I do remember Amanda Palmer doing that even though she has more notoriety than most.
