Three years going strong
Zapping insecurities
Finding my obscured voice
Restoring my poetic touch
To my own surprise
I built up a skua
Despite identity crises
Finally, I have a tribe
You all stood beside me
As I reached a milestone
Botondi (x2)
Nkama mibale (x4)
I like it! You have a good voice!

Thank you very much, Jane! I liked writing and recording. It was also the first time using a foreign language for part of the lyrics (Lingala). Making a little melody with the thumb piano was also great.

Well, Ospreyshire was my spoken word project even though I lost sight of it until recently. I have 1 EP, and two singles so far. It would be great to make a full album’s worth of material. I may have recorded more if I didn’t write over two dozen books over the past 5 years.

Where did the name Ospreyshire come from? It intrigues me.

I get that question a lot and I was asked that when I had two interviews a while ago. Hahaha!
The thing is I’ve always wanted to use the name Osprey in something like a band or a record label. I thought Shire would be a great word to fuse together. It’s fine if people pronounce it OspreySHY-re or OspreySHEER (Americans pronounce the former). Of course, I’d be remiss if I don’t make the obvious Portlandia reference: Put a bird on it! We put birds on things! 😛
