Sometimes the greatest battles don’t happen with swords, fists, or other weapons
It happens in the mind
Invading thoughts occur without warning
Malevolent clocks running backwards and looped footage
Become scourges
There was no control to rewind everything to one’s wants
20/20 hindsight makes the slights into mountains
There needed to be no debilitation as it’s happened before
It had to start with resolve and telling the invaders to be expelled
All those times were uphill battles
This poem is really profound! Great job! 😊

Very nicely written, ospreyshire. I love how you turned 20/20 eyesight into looping replays. This works perfectly to destroy the stereotype of 20/20 vision, rehashing the past becomes PTSD.

Thank you so much, Bill! Yeah, I wanted to have some kind of wordplay with perfect vision and the year. Sure, I’ve rehashed the past in my mind even before 2020, but the atmosphere of this year indirectly caused some of those ruminations from time to time. Very good point about how rehashing the past in one’s mind can be like PTSD.
