Some of you may have remembered me mentioning my friend Korisa a while ago. Yesterday, she started a YouTube channel where she’s doing a project called The Significant List. It’s a really cool idea and I want you to hear it from her in this video. I’m stoked that this project is going to be a reality. Also, I did the ukulele music at the end of the video. This is Lifestory: Monologue. They hail from Guelph, ON, Canada, and they were such a great band. They mix elements of post-rock, ambient, spoken word lyrics, and a dash of some hardcore for good measure. I had the fortune to see one of their very few concerts here in America and they put on one heck of a show when I saw them at Cornerstone 2009. I put up a video with the original version of their song “The Coward” (better than the later version in my opinion).

Meet Ben + Vesper.
They are a married couple from New Jersey that make some quirky experimental pop music. I saw them back at Cornerstone Festival 2011 where they played one heck of a show. They were discovered by Danielson Famile and were signed to Sounds Familyre Records. I own all their albums, by the way. 🙂
They haven’t been active that much in music lately, but Vesper does illustrations though.

This week’s edition of Friendship Friday involves George Hugo.
He’s a musician from South Africa. I was introduced to him through our mutual friend Dave from The Old-Timers, Their Throats Are Open Tombs, and the founder of ZAP Records. George is a really cool guy that makes some nice folk tunes. He also just told me about his photography on his Blogspot, so I’ll be promoting both links of his. This Friendship Friday will be about Gareth Sitz this week!
She’s a playwright, actress, and a poet. Gareth has done a lot of great things in the community with the arts and outreach activities. I recently bought her chapbook of poems which was a great read, and the Adultery poem is featured in this video that I took back in January. Gareth has helped me become a better poet, lyricist, and even helped me to share the stuff I’ve been writing for years.

This Friendship Friday post is about a British buddy of mine by the name of James Silas.
He’s an experimental folk artist from Newcastle-via-Manchester, England. I’ve known him since he was in his previous band Watercolour and enjoyed his music since then. His first solo album The Man in the Snow White Cell is quite good and it was recorded with James in a makeshift sensory-depriving “prison” where he recorded all the instruments.

Meet Connor Eck AKA Fafhrd.
He’s an experimental musician from my home state of Illinois. I’ve known him for years ever since he told me about his band Suzy LaRue & The Ruthless Ooze when they were starting out as a band. Fafhrd does a lot of synthesizer, dark ambient, and even some avant-pop based pieces across his discography. Most of his albums are free or pay-what-you-want on his Bandcamp page.
