I know Nestle has done really bad things in the past like that heinous baby formula fiasco story my mom told me about when I was a child, but this is just plain sick. So apparently, Nestle and Cargill have financed their chocolate businesses by using child slaves as young as 5 years old in Cote D’Ivoire (or Ivory Coast if you prefer) and Mali for 12-14 hours a day under abusive conditions like getting beaten, starved out, and under armed surveillance among other ghastly things. The formally enslaved people tried to make a lawsuit against these companies for human rights abuses and who can blame them? However, the Supreme Court in America denied the lawsuit from an 8-1 majority (Yes, both Republicans AND Democrats voted to reject the suit) because this happened outside of America. So let me get this straight. People can be arrested for sexual assault or being a Nazi outside of the country even if it was outside the nation as they should be incarcerated, but for being involved in child slavery isn’t good enough to throw the book at the companies and their accomplices? Unbelievable! Do your jobs, SCOTUS!
Me being offended about this happening isn’t just on principle in my case, but this offends me as a human being. While Nestle and Cargill deserve to be boycotted and charged with slavery, the accomplices directly in those African nations need to be locked up as well. This is hardcore selling out on so many levels and those governments should rescue the enslaved and shut down these plantations. Slavery is still going on in the world, but sadly not many people still realize this.
If you do buy chocolate, then please do your research on the companies like if they’re fair trade for example. For me, I won’t be buying anything from these companies.

A baby’s face was lacerated during a C-section. THIS. IS. HORRIFIC!
My body shook when I found out about this story and I HAVE to talk about this. A baby named Kyanna Williams in Denver had her face cut during a C-section and is forced to have a plastic surgeon to make 13 stitches to the poor girl’s face to hopefully help with the healing. Granted, I’m no parent or medical expert, but I’m beyond furious hearing this. Apparently, there’s a 0.7% chance of a C-section baby getting a laceration which I wouldn’t have guessed, but that still doesn’t excuse these doctors. I’m glad the family is suing because this is a slam dunk malpractice case and potential attempted infanticide there. First, I hear about the 6-year old Coby Daniels getting shot in Ypsilanti, and now THIS?!? Much like what Phil said, if I found out my newborn child was cut or harmed during birth by the doctors or other medical personnel, I would end up in jail! I hope the family gets justice and for Kyanna’s face to fully heal since SHE DID NOT DESERVE THIS!

Zimbabwe, don’t turn your country into Rhodesia 2.0 even if the colonizer is of a different race
I found out about this story not long after this video was first uploaded and I was seething with rage. Apparently, this Chinese company has been enslaving Zimbabweans and doing all types of cruel things to the Africans in that country. This is just sick. In the thumbnail, you could see them moving sick women with a FORKLIFT and not stretchers. There is a chemical used that’s been knocking out the women workers which is dangerous as well as very suspicious. I seriously hope they aren’t taking sexual advantage of them. Thankfully, the workers have spoken up and collecting receipts of these gross violations. I hope these devils get jail time. You don’t see Africans enslaving Chinese people, much less the Asian community, and this needs to be stopped.
I just had to talk about this issue with how infuriated I was with this news story. Why isn’t this hitting worldwide news channels? Oh, I have a few guesses why. I felt compelled to share this with everyone.
Trademarking “Yoruba”? Shame on you, Timbuktu (the UK company)!
It’s been a while since I talked about news around the world, but I saw this video which ticked me off so much that I just have to talk bout it.
There’s a British company called Timbuktu who had the temerity to trademark the word “Yoruba”. For those who don’t know any thing about that word, it refers to an actual African ethnic group and language associated with Nigeria, Benin, and Togo although Nigeria has a huge Yoruba population. Some famous people of that ethnicity involve actor John Boyega, basketball player Hakeem Olajuwon, and rapper Wale to name a few. The Nigerian community got infuriated by this trademark controversy and rightfully so. They were raising awareness to this issue. Also, am I the only one who noticed that this company is named after the famous Malian city?
This is just blatant cultural appropriation and I hope Timbuktu gets enough pressure to drop the trademark. I never bought anything from them and I hope there’s a giant boycott against them for what they did. What’s up with these companies trademarking African things? You have this recent case, Louis Vuitton making “luxury” Maasai cloths, and (I will not stop repeating this example because this company deserves the smoke) Disney freaking trademarking the phrase “Hakuna Matata”! These corporations need to stop doing this and I hope people stop buying their things. Think about it, they trademarked the name of an ethnic group consisting of millions of people around the world and not just in Western Africa. How would people react if Timbuktu or any company trademarked the name(s) of another ethnic group such as Irish Travelers, Sicilians, or Ashkenazim? I’m sure there would be even more outrage if anyone dared to do so. Nobody should be turning ethnicities into intellectual property.
The fact that people tell me that cultural appropriation isn’t bad or doesn’t exist is just idiotic because they never had to deal with their heritage being slighted in the least.
LA County and Compton Police are infiltrated by gangs to terrorize Black People. A whistleblowing sheriff proved so many people right by exposing this.
I don’t want to downplay the seriousness of the situation, but how sad is it that after finding out about this expose, the thing I said next was “And next on the news…Water is wet.”
Chalk that up to something most of America thinks is just a conspiracy theory when Black people say it until they’re proven right just like the War on Drugs, The Southern Strategy, The Devil’s Punchbowl, or even outside of America such as medical experiments done to Africans against their will (See: Cold Case Hammerskjöld). Basically, an LA County sheriff exposed the infiltration of the Executioners gang inside police departments in that part of Southern California. They would celebrate with illegal arrest quotas and tattoo parties after shooting people. This consists of white and Latinx officers with the latter clearly being used as race buffers. What made me furious wasn’t just because of the rampant injustice including racially profiling Compton’s mayor, but that the local channel clips blurred out the Executioners while leaving the whistleblower’s face intact. That shows you EXACTLY which side their bread is buttered on. When was the last time you’ve seen Black gang members have all of their faces censored in the news? Double standards, much? It’s situations like these that only give more rhetorical strength to those protesting against police brutality and racism. It’s crazy how many innocent people have been wronged by these gangsters with badges. Phil made a great point about how this could be a field day for criminal defense lawyers regardless if their clients are innocent or not. These cops have NO RIGHT to talk or press charges if they’re arresting gang members when they have some on the police department (not that anyone should join a gang to begin with).
This is sick how they’ve been able to fly under the radar. This isn’t the first or only police department to have this issue, but it’s one that’s being exposed right now. These police departments should clean house of all these criminals who managed to not be in the jails for their actions. You can’t say one type of gang is bad when a different one with good only because they have badges. Unbelievable…
A delusional Karen is blaming so many Black people for something that didn’t happen
“I’m not getting justice because I’m white!”
I can’t make up this quote to save my life. Do I even need to say how fallacious it is let alone her “testimony” to say something like that? I swear this has become the age of exposure when it comes to racist idiots showing their behinds. You would think they would know better given the current racial tensions in America, but nope. This Karen has some nerve cussing them out, blaming whatever Black people are there, and even doing a “white lives matter” chant in front of everyone. She’s so lucky that the security officers and the other bystanders were calm because she would not fare so well against someone else who wouldn’t tolerate.
Phil also brought up a great point of white supremacists copying everything like how they come up with these “white lives matter” or “all lives matter”. I could go on with other examples in different fields (and have used multiple examples much a good portion of the songs from “Dear Innovare…”), but that’s just lazy. I don’t care if she was drunk or sober (I agree she comes off as the former). Nobody should be blamed for something they didn’t do. It’s also a good thing this was recorded and I hope the world shames this Karen for being such a bigot.
Another proof positive example of color-coded injustice. Exhibit A: Sebastian Arzadon in Lawrenceburg, TN
I wasn’t aware about this story until just yesterday. Boy, do I need to talk about this. In Lawrenceburg, TN, there was a double murder suspect named Sebastian Arzadon who was finally caught by police. What did the cops do while he was detained? He got free bottled water and medical treatment! Wow, if I saw that video out of context and with no commentary, I would’ve thought they were treating some person who saved a child or animal from a fire or an emergency situation. I’m sure people like George Floyd for example got similar treatment despite not killing anyone, right?
Oh, wait. He’s dead!
Lawrenceburg PD, thank you for proving the anti-racist organizations right. If you wonder why people chant “Black lives matter”, this is one of the reasons why. I’m also glad Phil brought up the similarities with Dylann Roof whom as you remember killed 9 people at a church and got free Burger King from the feds. This is unbelievable. Some may argue that it’s a different police department in another state or that Arzadon didn’t resist arrest.
Neither did George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Philando Castille, Terrence Crutcher, Alton Sterling, Tamir Rice, and so many more. That argument is invalid.
That police chief in the video who said they would treat anyone the same way regardless of race is such an obvious lie that if Pinocchio said the same thing, his nose would grow a foot longer instantly. I have NEVER seen a Black person get treated that way ever in my life in America. If someone argues that this country treats murderers better than innocent people or at least those with non-violent crimes, then this is one example. You can also add Brock Turner, Ethan Couch, Niklaus Cruz, and others on that list, too.
I do tip my hat off to the internet and Snoop Dogg for calling this stuff out and meme-ing this clear double standard.
Self Made…Stop Misrepresenting Annie Malone!
I’m sure some of you have heard about the new Netflix series Self Made about Madame CJ Walker. I haven’t seen this show, but when I heard that they did Annie Malone wrong, I just had to talk about it.
This is the second time when real life affects my “Dear Innovare…” album. First, we have the unfortunate passing of Cameroonian musician Manu Dibango who wrote “Soul Makossa” (AKA The song “Wanna Be Starting Something” ripped off) as mentioned in “Cameroonian Originality March” and now Self Made slanders Annie Malone?
This ticked me off so much since CJ Walker is NOTHING without Annie Malone and I hate how she never got the credit for being the first ADOS female millionaire and also the first one to make a beauty college. It seems like I’ve been proven right about so many different things over the past year or so like how I was exposed to The Lion’s Share documentary or Petite Noir’s La Maison Noir music video. This is why we need to tell our own stories. I was glad that the blogger talking about this Wongel Zelalem thought it was an amazing learning experience and wanted to get the history right. If you’re curious about her accent, it’s because she’s from Ethiopia, by the way. The truth needs to be shared out there.
Covidiocy On Parade: Coughing on Cops While Claiming to Have the Rona In Chi-Town
People in my home state can be so stupid.
So this covidiot by the name of Anthony Ponzi collides into another car in Chicago and he has the nerve to assault the cops as well as coughing in their faces while claiming to have Coronavirus. He didn’t have it (allegedly) and was able to live to tell about it despite the global state of this pandemic. It’s amazing how he’s able to do all that to CPD officers and not get beaten or shot. How could this be?
Oh, if you’ve read my news stories and commentaries, you know EXACTLY why someone like Ponzi was treated with kids gloves. So you can cough at cops during a time of pandemic, and you get to be taken alive. However, in this same city, you can walk away from a cop and get shot sixteen times.
I definitely agree with Phil with Ponzi being punished harder like how people can be charged with fake weapons or even yelling “fire!” in a movie theater. That’s just nasty and especially unacceptable in this current climate with the disease. That’s saying nothing about he was throwing hands to the cops in general. If you think justice is handled equally, then you’re delusional. I’m glad he got arrested, but he got off way too soft.
Ospreyshire Origins: I, Axum
Lyrics:
Were the invaders fascinated by my beauty?
I stood tall in this living city
My creators took care of me every step of the way
Its a shame they never foretold of my destruction and abduction
While my homeland was never colonized, I was taken defiled, and cloned
I’m disgusted by my inferior leaning tall north of me
My people…rescue and reconstruct me
The world must know I exist
May the originator give me renown despite my obscure state
I got something for the architects and for those that respect African culture. This is going to be something I guarantee you never learned about in school.
This is the Obelisk of Axum in the Ethiopian town of the same name. This tower has been around in one of the oldest nation’s in the world since the 4th century AD. For centuries, this obelisk has been in the Horn of Africa, but unfortunately it became damaged and stolen. Even though Ethiopia is the only country in Africa never to have been colonized, Italy tried to claim that nation through warfare after they got Eritrea no thanks to the Berlin conference.
I didn’t know about this obelisk until I watched the documentary Unjust Perceptions: Ethiopia where they go to a museum and see a picture of it. Think about what I said about Ethiopia and Italy. Phil (the American who’s visiting Ethiopia) looks at the picture and the first thing he says is “That looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.” and the tour guide gives him a lesson…
Long story short: Italy stole a bunch of things including the design of the Obelisk of Axum. The Ethiopian government did their best for years to sue the Italian government to get their culture back and they eventually got the parts of the Obelisk to bring it back home and they’re reconstructing it as we speak. This was jaw-dropping for me and I never realized how that famous building ripped off something from Africa. In the song, I speak in a feminine voice and I use metaphors of the colonizers raping and assaulting the original culture to drive the point home as uncomfortable as it is. The percussion is even based on Ethiopian and Eritrean drum patterns that I’ve noticed in both traditional and pop music from that part of the world. Much like my Art Theft pieces, this is just a sickening display of colonization even though Italy didn’t take over the Abyssinian nation.
Just think twice whenever you see that tower.
