Dystopian Futures Interview from The Antidote

http://www.theantidoteradio.com/interview/interview-with-dystopian-futures

Very recently, Dave Emmerson from Dystopian Futures was interviewed by The Antidote. He had some great insight for his current band. Dave also talks about the weaknesses of social media, rampant narcissism, and sci-fi. Shoot, I didn’t even know he was a fan of Dr. Strangelove. Hahaha! I thought this was a great interview and you should check it out.

Don’t forget that Dystopian Futures’s Low Arts EP comes out on 6/11/18 on http://zaprecords.bandcamp.com.

Don’t forget, Dystopian Futures has a new music video for their Low Arts song. Yes, I worked on it and I threw in some stealth puns. Hee hee hee…

ZAP Records Spotlight: Skree Alleen

Hello, everyone!

I’d like to introduce you to South African artist Willem Samuel AKA Skree Alleen. He just dropped a new EP earlier this week called “Artefak” and it’s quite good. It’s certainly no sophomore slump from this artist. Much like Metode en Tegniek, the lyrics are actually in Afrikaans of all things.

Fee free to check it out. It’s only $2 to buy!

Verses Vs. Anhedonia: 1 Year Anniversary

Can you believe it?

Exactly one year ago, I released my debut EP “Verses Vs. Anhedonia” to the world. Time has gone by way too fast here. This was my first foray into recording some poems and adding some avant-garde soundscapes with them. It was also the first time I’ve ever used my omnichord as an instrument for some of the tracks. Granted, this stuff isn’t the kind of music you’ll hear on Top 40 radio or commercials, but I hope you check it out for those who didn’t catch it the first time.

You can download it for free or you can pay what you want.

I want to thank Dave Emmerson from ZAP Records for distributing it worldwide and for formatting the liner notes of the album. Thanks for believing in my art, mate.

One year later, and I never thought I would continue with this avant-garde project.

Thank you all.

-Curtis

Someone Reviewed My EP!

So, I got an email from Dave of The Old-Timers and ZAP Records fame earlier today. He told me that my debut EP got reviewed. I couldn’t believe that it actually happened. This was the first time in my life that anyone has reviewed my creative works ever. Dave Hawkins (not to be confused with the aforementioned Dave) from The Antidote checked it out. You can find his review of Verses Vs. Anhedonia at two places…

One quote that stood out to me involved the final sentences.

“Curtis M’s straight-forward lyric approach, overlaying the atmospheric background, creates a distinctly curious aesthetic. Be prepared for this five minute long game changer.”

Thanks, Mr. Hawkins!

…And So It Begins

Hello, world.

It’s been quite a ride being creative and all. You see, I decided to give this whole spoken word thing a try while mixing it up with some short acousmatic tracks to accompany them. Maybe it’s pretentious of me to do some avant-garde stuff with these poems. Hahaha. Anyways, my debut EP Verses Vs. Anhedonia will be released on November 30th courtesy of ZAP Records, my Bandcamp page, and other online music retailers.

Thank you.
