Identity Issues (An Ospreyshire Lament)

Who is Ospreyshire, really?

Is he a poet, musician, or some random blogger who talks about random news stories or movies?

I’m sure many of you thought the same thing at least once. It doesn’t take an ESPer to figure that out.

I do apologize for confusing you and it wasn’t my intent. I just want to be me. How crazy is it that I have so many interests and care about different things.

Does this make me feel like some holier-than-thou person? Does this make me shallow?

I feel like a good portion doesn’t know me or know what Ospreyshire’s about.

No wonder I’ve been trying to streamline everything to have a concrete identity while still not trying to fit in someone else’s box to define me as this or that.

Who is Ospreyshire, really?

Someone who’s trying to find their identity through my words, opinions, and my art. At least that’s what I hope is shining through.

New(ish) Ospreyshire Single: They Dreamed of Devastation and Deceit (Circle of Lies)!

Some of you might remember me making this poem roughly a month ago. However, I decided to record that poem with my cajon and my trademark acousmatics. Unlike other Ospreyshire tracks, I don’t use that many effects with my sound manipulation. Expect there to be audio fridge horror with some subtle sounds especially in the context of the lyrics. When I wrote that poem, I was airing my grievances with how much I despise the misrepresentation of Africa let alone the diaspora.

I know some people who weren’t familiar with this poem are going to ask me an obvious question, and I’ll answer it right now. No, the recording isn’t just about making a potshot against that expensive piece of plagiarism even though I do make said quip in one line. The issue is bigger than that. Just sayin.

More people have been checking out my blog and I got to this amount! Thank you to everyone who read my blog. Whether it’s my poems, music, news stories, opinions, or mentioning my other creative works, I appreciate it.

I have been thinking about this blog since I feel like I’ve had an identity crisis with this page. This was supposed to be for my poems and music, but I lost track with other things that I feel like no one cares unless it’s content from my other pages. I really need to streamline things on here.

200 posts!

Well, this was a pleasant surprise.

Looks like I made over 200 posts over the past two years of my blog. Some of them are reblogs from my other pages, but I’ll still take it.

It’s a miracle that I could make that many posts on here.

That’s an odd number to get an achievement, don’t you think? Yes, I do get the joke as to why it’s an important number, but that’s besides the point.

This was certainly a good notification I got recently. I’ve had this blog for 2 years now, and it’s been interesting meeting all those on WordPress regardless of what one blogs about. I’m glad to know a diverse amount of bloggers who talk about numerous subjects.

Happy Birthday to me! Here are some presents for you!

I woke up today one year older. It’s that time of the year where I celebrate another year of life.

I wanted to do something special, but not for myself though.

As of today, I released NEW Ospreyshire tunes on my Bandcamp page! I recorded a single with two poems just a few days ago and I wanted to keep it a secret until my birthday. The new poems are Dilettantism and End of a Decade respectively. The first track is definitely one of my noisier ones with my trademark penchant for acousmatic sounds. The second track is actually a ukulele-driven one, but where I multi track my voice and some subtle acousmatics in the background. For those of you that followed me because of my film and anime reviews, I temporarily ended my hiatus on Iridium Eye Reviews for just one day. I posted three new reviews today, so feel free to check them out. They involve the early 00s sci-fi anime Alien Nine, Studio Ponoc’s first film Mary and the Witch’s Flower, and the recent travel documentary Unjust Perceptions: Ethiopia. Those reviews are my gift to any of you who like movies and/or anime.

2 year anniversary of Ospreyshire’s Realm

I just got this notification and my blog has been around for two years already.

Wow, time has certainly flown by. I originally made this blog as a platform for my current spoken word/Avant-garde project. Funny how I’ve expanded my repertoire with multiple blogs, doing the Katauta 52 challenge, and talking about important events on here.
