Justin Yates’s new music and new music video!

It’s time!

My friend Justin Yates released his newest EP called “Friend”. He even released a new music video for his song “Burn”. Justin Yates is someone I’ve known for years when I got into the local music scene and he’s one of the few people from that area who I still talk to and never lost respect for. He works harder than so many other musicians I know. Feel free to check out the music video and to buy his EP.

This week’s edition of Friendship Friday involves George Hugo.

He’s a musician from South Africa. I was introduced to him through our mutual friend Dave from The Old-Timers, Their Throats Are Open Tombs, and the founder of ZAP Records. George is a really cool guy that makes some nice folk tunes. He also just told me about his photography on his Blogspot, so I’ll be promoting both links of his. George Hugo’s debut EP Rainwet Morning is available for free or pay-what-you-want on ZAP Records’ Bandcamp page.

Friendship Friday: James Silas

This Friendship Friday post is about a British buddy of mine by the name of James Silas.

He’s an experimental folk artist from Newcastle-via-Manchester, England. I’ve known him since he was in his previous band Watercolour and enjoyed his music since then. His first solo album The Man in the Snow White Cell is quite good and it was recorded with James in a makeshift sensory-depriving “prison” where he recorded all the instruments.

Check out his stuff at http://jamessilas.com.

Friendship Friday: Kevin Schlereth

Welcome to another installment of Friendship Friday.

Meet Kevin Schlereth. He’s an acoustic artist from St. Louis, MO whom I’ve known for roughly 6 years now. We met at Cornerstone Festival back then and I’ve seen some of his shows. I like how he has an atypical appraoch to folk music with more technical playing and with meaningful lyrics.

You can get his music for free or pay-what-you-want at https://kevinschlereth.bandcamp.com/

Friendship Friday: Pete Kruse

Meet Pete Kruse!

He’s a good musician friend of mine who’s been in a good deal of bands. We first met at a basement show 8 years ago at a mutual friend’s place where he sang, played guitar, and even the hammered dulcimer which I thought was awesome.

Feel free to check out his stuff at https://peterkruse.bandcamp.com/.

I’m Featured on ZAP Records’ New Comp!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this blog. My apologies. I really need to increase my discipline on posting things more often.

Anyways, I wanted to let you all know that ZAP Records just released a new compilation on their Bandcamp page that’s free or pay-what-you-want. It features Incomplete Specters from my debut EP which you can also find through ZAP Records or my own Bandcamp page. This compilation features my labelmates such as Willem Samuel, The Festal Shout, The Straight Suits, George Hugo, To Live As Sons, The Jim Achen Band, Captive Portal, and The Old-Timers! There are even non-ZAP artists like Anti-World System [Grrr Records], The Hoax [Thumper Punk Records], Praiser, Blast From Oblivion [SkyBurnsBlack Records], and False Idle [Thumper Punk Records]. There are some album cuts mixed in with exclusive songs you can’t find anywhere else.

Download it and listen to the mix of punk, experimental, hardcore, and folk tracks.

Thanks!
